Must-Have Vacation Packing with Baby
We're Canadian which means we have 6 long months of winter, and not nearly enough lake days to enjoy. For us, here at Nest & Sprout, that means taking a week off to catch a flight for sunshine and beaches.
You might be wondering, but I have a baby. And we're going to tell you that traveling with a baby is worth it. It's always going to be a challenge traveling with kids. Each age stage brings a new and unique perspective and level of difficulty. Start traveling when it works for you and your family.
What to Pack For Your Baby's Beach Vacation
- Baby Carrier
- Muslin Blankets
- Swim Diapers
- Sun Protection - both cream and clothing
- Toys! Collapsible is ideal
- Beach Towel
A Baby Carrier
Bring your favourite Baby Carrier - take your choice of structured carrier, soft structure, ring sling, woven wrap, or other design, because a baby carrier is our go-to choice for keeping little one's feeling calm and safe. It's also excellent for running through airports, tackling the sandy beaches, and stairs.
Strollers are fantastic but when you’re on vacation, sometimes it’s less than ideal. We love a stretchy wrap for the early days and structured carriers for later on. Right now, we don’t carry baby carriers, but we will soon.
Muslin Blankets
Muslin Blankets - this multipurpose blanket can be anything you need it to be. It can be a shade cover on a hot day, it can be a blanket on a cold day, it can be change pad, a burp cloth, a nursing cover, or an extra change of clothes.
We love Muslin blankets because they can reduce all the extra things you think you need to pack, but you could probably leave at home.
Swim Diapers
Sun Protection
Sun Protection - don't forget a hat, or two, sunscreen, sunglasses, and UV clothing.
There are many great UV suits on the market right now. We are smitten with the collection of swim collection from Current Tyde and love how it offers tiny baby sizing that covers the arms and legs.
You really can’t have too much sun protection.
Don’t forget to find a nice sunscreen that is reef safe. There’s so many options to choose from over at the drug store, but we love recommending Think Baby to our friends. If you’re going somewhere with bugs, don’t forget a bottle of Care Plus Bug Repellant.
Beach Toys
Beach Toys - all kids love toys with wheels. A few small toy trucks packed in your bag, and maybe inflatable floaties? If you have room, sneak in a shovel or two? Don’t over think it, keep it simple, and you can pick up a beach bucket and shovel at the grocery store last minute.
But something to dig with is a game changer. We hope to bring in some summer toys, but for now, we’ll let hit up your favourite toy stores.
Beach Towel
Specifically a Hooded Beach Towel - great for at home, and at the beach, a hooded towel is bound to keep the tiniest of kids cozy and happy after a swim or bath play. We can't help but loves these ones from Village Baby. … realistically any towel will do.
How could we forget a bag....
If you don't already have a bag to stuff all this beach gear into, now is the time to make the plunge and get a backpack. Diaper backpacks are a must-have for all seasons of parenting. They'll take you from newborn at the beach to 6 year olds climbing mountains.
How could we forget a bag....
Just because you have kids, doesn't mean you need to stop vacationing.
Come visit us at Pine Centre Mall - we are directly across from Boathouse and next to Showcase. You can check out our selection, maybe pick out something else that catches your eye.
